About The Event
Beach dives are a great alternative if you don’t have a boat to go diving or just want to avoid the cost of fuel on the water. Find lots of shark teeth and explore the Gulf in a new way. Expect fun above and below the water. Find a new dive buddy or dive with old friends.
Check out the itinerary for the dive below. Don’t forget to look at the gear checklist! Call us to reserve any rental gear you need for your dive. Gear pick up can be arranged on Monday, June 19th. Gaspar’s staff will be on site for the dives and provide a dive site briefing, but will only be providing a dive guide for divers who purchase a ticket as a guided dive. Spaces are limited for guided divers so please book early if you want to be guided. Each buddy team/group will be responsible for planning their own dive plan and diving their plan. Gaspar’s staff encourages all divers to start their dive by 9am. We plan on leaving at 11am. We will not be able to wait around at the beach for divers exiting the water past 11am. Each buddy team is required to use a dive flag. Gaspar’s has limited dive flag rentals, please plan ahead with your dive buddies. We hope to see you at our Donut Dive event!

SOUTH BROHARD PARK
Continue south from Sharkeys, along South Harbor Dr. past the paw park about 1/2 mile and you will come to South Brohard Park.
Amenities: Large paved parking area, showers, restrooms, picnic tables and two boardwalks to the beach (the north boardwalk is wheelchair accessible). The best kayak launching is from a small roadside parking area 50 yards south of the park entrance.
Site Description: Using the boardwalk closest to the park entrance (south boardwalk), take a heading of 250 degrees, cross over the sand bar and about 50 yards farther out are the blocks (an artificial reef of limestone 4x4 blocks). Lots of fish here, and tooth fossils in and around the blocks. After storms some nice teeth have been found in the washouts at the base of the blocks. Depth here is 15'. A heading from the boardwalk of 270 degrees for about 100 yards will take you to a coquina reef. Mammal fossils have been found in this area and some small shark teeth. A heading of 300 degrees for about 250 yards will put you in an area of black sand, broken shell and a variety of fossils (mammoth teeth & bones, horse/llama teeth, alligator and turtle fossils). It is a good idea when fossil diving in this area to have a large collecting bag and lift bag. There have been LARGE fossils found in this area including mammoth tusk and leg bones. NOTE: This is not recommended for beginners. Long swims with collecting bags laden with heavy fossils will burn thru air quickly. Experience with lift bags is also desired.
