About The Event

Englewood Dive Club will be hosting a group trip to Crystal River to snorkel with the manatees and drift dive down Rainbow River.

Saturday March 9th , 11 am

Rainbow River Drift Dive or Snorkel

Rainbow river is a crystal clear springs-fed river drift dive that ranges from 4- 20 feet deep. The water is about 72F year-round. You can choose to snorkel or dive. A pontoon boat waits at the KP Hole Park boat launch and ferries divers/snorkelers up the river.  Then we drift back to the park in about 45 min-1 hour. There is no dive shop or rentals at this location, or close by, so you need to bring everything you need with you. Park fees $15, $3 for a locker plus $10 water taxi fee per dive. You can do one or 2 dives. Kayaks and Canoes are also available to rent. No certification required to snorkel. Make sure each group of divers carries a dive flag. KP Hole Park, 9435 SW 190th Ave Road, Dunnellon, FL 34432 352 489 3055.

Sunday March 10th , 8 am

Manatee Snorkeling Trip

We will rent a pontoon boat that seats about 12 at the Crystal Lodge Dive Center located at 525 NW 7th Ave, Crystal River 34428.  The  boat is $40/hour and will be split between the people that go on the boat (approx. $10-20 pp.) We can stay as long as the group wants, typically 3 hours. No diving is allowed with the manatees. You can bring your own snorkel gear, or rent some at the shop.

This is a pretty informal trip with no upfront cost. Due to seating limitations on the pontoon boat, the club requests a list of the people going. If you change your mind, they can take you off the list and add someone else. Please bring cash. There isn't a group hotel picked for this trip. There are a number of options in the area, but rooms fill up quickly and some of the hotels are a little iffy, so it's recommended you book in advance.

They will try to arrange a group dinner on Saturday night if the group wants to get together.
